Construction Notice (update Aug 16, 2013):
Construction of park improvements to Nature Center is scheduled to begin Sept 16, 2013 with a projected completion date of April 8, 2014. During this time period camper registration and limited concession items will be temporary moved to the park administration building (located to the right of the park entrance gate).
Other areas of the park that will be closed during construction: Fall of 2013 - campsite A47 and A48. Spring of 2014 - campsites A47, A48, A49, A50, and A51. These sites will remain closed until construction is completed. Other closures affected during construction will be the marina fish cleaning station and camper trailer storage area lot.NO CONSTRUCTION WILL OCCUR ON WEEKENDS.

Due to storm damage from Hurricane Sandy, the Janes Island playground is closed to park patrons until further notice. Playground is located between Shelter 1 and 2. The swing adjacent to the playground is still open for public use.

2014 Reservation/Transaction Fees:
In addition to the park facility use fee, there is a nightly reservation/transaction fee. Internet reservations, the per night fee is $4.56. Call Center, the per night fee is $4.61. Walk-In transactions at the park, the per night fee is $4.51. Reservation/Transaction Fees are Non-Refundable.

Whether you are looking for a few hours of tranquil paddling, or a full-day expedition and overnight experience, you'll find it at Janes Island State Park. This park is surrounded by Chesapeake Bay waters and features rental cabins, pavilions, campsites and a conference center. More than 30 miles of water trails dissect a 2,900 acre Chesapeake Bay salt marsh island, a natural paradise with few signs of civilization. Limitless vistas over shallow bays, marshes and low vegetation impart a sense of space and solitude. Most of the waterways are protected from wind and current, providing ideal conditions for the novice as well as the experienced paddler. Janes Island offers a tranquil paradise. Anglers enjoy easy access to the Bay and fish for striped bass, spot, croaker, flounder and bluefish. A family favorite at Janes Island is crabbing-- where you quickly learn why Maryland is for Crabs!!

Alerts and Important InformationALCOHOL POLICY:
The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins and motorhomes. Permits may be issued upon request by the Park Manager for special events operating under a use agreement.
Alcohol permits will only be issued through a reservation for a designated shelter, or other approved facility. A $35 fee will be charged for each alcohol permit. Permits may be revoked for cause by Park Manager, their designee or a Natural Resources Police Officer.
Internet shelter reservations requiring an alcohol permit will need to contact the Call Center at 1-888-432-2267, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 8 pm to make your reservation.
