2013 Reservation/Transaction Fees:

In addition to the park facility use fee, there is a nightly reservation/transaction fee. Internet reservations, the per night fee is $4.56. Call Center, the per night fee is $4.61. Walk-In transactions at the park, the per night fee is $4.51. Reservation/Transaction Fees are Non-Refundable.


Cancellation Fee Policy Change-Effective May 1, 2013:

To better serve our Maryland Park Service customers, we are changing our cancellation policy to a reservation cancellation service charge of $6 per reservation; except for Assateague Island State Park, which will remain at $6 per night.

Description

Whether you are looking for a few hours of tranquil paddling, or a full-day expedition and overnight experience, you'll find it at Janes Island State Park. This park is surrounded by Chesapeake Bay waters and features rental cabins, pavilions, campsites and a conference center. More than 30 miles of water trails dissect a 2,900 acre Chesapeake Bay salt marsh island, a natural paradise with few signs of civilization. Limitless vistas over shallow bays, marshes and low vegetation impart a sense of space and solitude. Most of the waterways are protected from wind and current, providing ideal conditions for the novice as well as the experienced paddler. Janes Island offers a tranquil paradise. Anglers enjoy easy access to the Bay and fish for striped bass, spot, croaker, flounder and bluefish. A family favorite at Janes Island is crabbing-- where you quickly learn why Maryland is for Crabs!!

Alerts and Important Information
ALCOHOL POLICY:

The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins and motorhomes. Permits may be issued upon request by the Park Manager for special events operating under a use agreement.

Alcohol permits will only be issued through a reservation for a designated shelter, or other approved facility. A $35 non-refundable fee will be charged for each alcohol permit. Permits may be revoked for cause by Park Manager, their designee or a Natural Resources Police Officer.

Internet shelter reservations requiring an alcohol permit will need to contact the Call Center at 1-888-432-2267, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 8 pm to make your reservation.

PET POLICY:

  • Pets allowed in day-use area, on trails and on island.
  • Pets allowed in marina area to board vessels.
  • Pets allowed at sites 1 through 13 and sites 23 through 40 in campground Loop B and in adjacent pet walking area.
  • Pets allowed in campground Loop A and parking lot.
  • Pets prohibited in Full Service Cabins, Camper Cabins and in the cabin area of the park. No Pets in campground Loop C.

    YOUTH GROUP CAMPING:
    Youth Group Camping is available within C-Loop, Sites 94,96,98,100,102. Contact the Park Office at 410-968-1565 for reservation. Youth Group Pass will be honored.
