The unguarded beaches of Janes Island offer visitors the opportunity to swim in the waters of the Chesapeake, but only at their own risk. Swimming is only allowed on Tangier Sound Side Beaches of the Island and area is accessible only by boat. Must provide your own boat; or kayak/canoe rentals are available at the Park during peak season. No swimming from the mainland park shoreline.
Construction of park improvements to Nature Center is scheduled to begin Sept 16, 2013 with a projected completion date of April 8, 2014. During this time period camper registration and limited concession items will be temporary moved to the park administration building (located to the right of the park entrance gate). Other areas of the park that will be closed during construction: Fall of 2013 - campsite A47 and A48. Spring of 2014 - campsites A47, A48, A49, A50, and A51. These sites will remain closed until construction is completed. Other closures affected during construction will be the marina fish cleaning station and the camper trailer storage area lot. NO CONSTRUCTION WORK WILL OCCUR ON WEEKENDS. We apologize for any inconvenience the construction may cause our park patrons. The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins and motorhomes.

GOLDEN AGE PASS:
Persons 62 years of age and older with MD Park Service Golden Age Pass are entitled to discounted camping Sunday-Thursday, excluding Holidays. Display of Golden Age Pass will be required upon check-in. Golden Age Pass holder must be the occupant on the site. Sites 94,96,98,100,102 within C-Loop are available for Youth Groups. Youth Group Pass will be honored. Contact the park office at 410-968-1565 for reservation.

Generators are permitted, but all aspects of their use & operation must conform to the established quiet hours & all applicable safeguards designed to prevent disturbing other visitors and to preserve the peace & tranquility of the park environment.
Due to the potential threat of the Emerald Ash Borer, the Maryland Department Natural Resources has prohibited the importation of personal firewood into all DNR owned and managed properties. Please do not bring firewood with you from home when visiting a DNR property.
Insects may be a nuisance at certain times of the year. Gnats, biting flies, mosquitoes, and ticks may be a problem during the spring, summer and fall. The park is located in a forest environment which could result in a problem with wood roaches, crickets, and mice.

All trash must be packed out of your site. Reduce/Reuse/Recycle. Dumpsters are available in the campground for camper's trash.
Quiet time will be maintained in the campground from10:00 pm to 7:00 am.
There is a two night minimum weekend stay (Friday/Saturday) and a three night minimum holiday weekend stay (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
