Before date of arrival, please call New Germany State Park at 301-895-5453 between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:00 pm to get cabin access information.

There is a 2-night minimum stay. Holiday weekends (Memorial Day weekend -Labor Day weekend) will require a 3-night minimum stay.


The forest land around the park is home to black bears. They have been known to travel throughout the park looking for an easy meal. PLEASE keep all food in your vehicle or cabin and dispose of trash promptly.

Cabins in our state parks are located in natural forest environment which serve as home to a wide variety of wildlife. Wildlife that has been encountered by guests in the past include: mice, squirrels, chipmunks, bears, deer, skunks, bats, raccoons, & snakes (very rare occasions, poisonous snake).

The park will charge the registered occupant for the cost of damages or substantial cleaning of cabins incurred during your stay.

The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all areas of the park with the exception of interior areas of motorhomes, full-service cabins, and designated shelters. Additional Alcohol Policy Information can be found at:

During the winter months the lake at New Germany will be lowered 4-5 feet in an attempt to combat vegetative growth in the lake.

Visitors must contact the Park at 301-895-5453, Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 4 pm. to determine if accommodations can be made for a same day cabin reservation arrival.

You MUST provide your own bed linen (sheets/blankets/pillows), as well as bath & kitchen towels. Please see Site Details for bed sizes.

Linens (sheet/pillow case) are available at the park for a service charge-contact the park for details.

Due to the potential threat of the Emerald Ash Borer, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has prohibited the importation of personal firewood into all DNR owned and managed properties. Please do not bring firewood with you from home when visiting a DNR property.

Campfires are not permitted in the vicinity of the cabins. Only charcoal can be utilized in the outdoor grills at each cabin. Separate campfire areas have been set up near the cabin loop - contact HQ office for details.

Pet Friendly Policy

The following rules will apply if bringing a pet:

  • Pets permitted in Cabins 3,4,5,6, and 7 - they do not have access to any other buildings within the park. Maximum of two pets.
  • Pet owners are responsible for damages to any of the state-owned facilities caused by their pet.
  • Pets are not permitted in the main campground or on groomed ski trails.
  • Please ensure that pets are licensed and have all required vaccinations including a rabies vaccination.
  • Pets must be on a lead and under control any time they are outside of the cabin.
  • Owners are responsible for keeping their pet quiet so not to disturb other cabin guests. Uncontrolled noise by the pet will be handled the same as any other noise complaint which may result in cancellation of reservation and eviction from the cabin
  • Pets should be attended at all times, but if pet is left alone in the cabin, it will need to be housed in a carrier to prevent it from roaming around the cabin while the owners are not there. Pets must remain quiet during this time.
  • It is the responsibility of the pet owner to clean up after their pets. Please do not leave pet waste around the cabin. Pet waste can be deposited in the park's dumpsters.
  • A $25.00 service charge is required if bringing a pet. Internet reservations will need to contact the Call Center at 1-888-432-2267, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 8 pm to apply pet service charge prior to arriving at the park.
  • Cabin has a loft with two single beds and two single beds in Living Room area. There are 46 stair steps from Parking Area down to Cabin.



    SMOKING is NOT permitted within the interior of the full-service cabins.

    One person over the capacity is permitted EXCEPT IN CABIN 1. Extra person service charge is $15 per stay. Please advise the park if you are bringing an extra person.

    All Cabins are equipped with the same amenities: Refrigerator, Stove, Microwave, Toaster and Coffee pot (please bring your own basket style filters). Basic cookware, dinnerware, flatware and glasses are provided, please bring your own bakeware and/or specialty items, including salt & pepper. Restroom with shower.

    Quiet time will be maintained in the cabin/campground areas from 10 pm to 7 am. Day-use area of the park closes at Sunset daily.
