Cabin 11-Second Floor Sleeping Restriction: (Update: February 18, 2014)
During a recent inspection by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, we were informed that Cabin #11 contains features that do not meet certain current fire safety standards. According to current fire code, all bedrooms and sleeping areas must have a minimum of two approved means of emergency exit. Due to the size and location of some cabin windows, not all of the cabin bedroom and sleeping areas currently meet this standard. These issues will be addressed during upcoming renovations, which are scheduled to be complete in 2016.
In the meantime, we have been ordered to remove all beds from the second-floor bedrooms, and to prohibit guests from sleeping in these areas. Use of these areas of the cabin for other than sleeping is permitted. To comply with this order, the following temporary changes have been made to the configuration of Cabin #11:
As a result of any inconvenience this may cause, the nightly rate for Cabin #11 has been temporarily reduced. Your safety remains our primary concern, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Erin Thomas, Park Manager, at 301-895-5453 or firstname.lastname@example.org
