Upcoming Renovation Projects:

Pocomoke River State Park is pleased to inform you that Shad Landing will be undergoing significant renovation projects starting July 2014 and running through June 2016. We will be constructing a new boat house, adding a splash pad at the pool, and remodeling 4 bathhouses. Additionally, we will be constructing new 6 person cabins at Milburn Landing and Shad Landing. During this process many Shad Landing campsites will be closed or available on a first come first served basis with limited services within the loop. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes but we are sure you will enjoy using our updated facilities once finished. If you have specific questions about available service please contact the park office at 410-632-2566.

No Pets Allowed.

POOL (Shad Landing):

Entrance fee is $4 per person for campers; $6 per person for day-use; and $3 per person youth group with pool reservation.

The pool operators from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Reduced hours during off-peak times in early June and late August.

Pool operates Wednesday through Monday (closed Tuesday) mid-June through mid-August, Contact Park for pool hours: 410-632-2566, Ext. 109.

QUIET HOURS:
Quiet time will be maintained in the campground area from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am.

YOUTH GROUP CAMPING/IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • A valid Maryland DNR Youth Group Pass is required to reserve a designated Youth Group Camping Area. Nightly service charges apply. Pass must be valid on date of arrival. Display of Youth Group Pass will be required upon check-in. Additional service charges will be applied if unable to provide proof of valid Pass.
  • The Maryland Park Service does not assume direct responsibility for the Youth Group. Permits may be cancelled and campers may be evicted for violation of park rules and regulations.
  • There must be at least 1 adult leader for every 10 youths. Members of the leaders families or other non-group members will not be allowed to accompany the group except with advance permission from the Park Manager.
  • Youth Groups must be sponsored by a recognized organization and consist of juveniles age 17 and under. ID may be required.
  • All Youth Group sites have a maximum capacity of 40 persons. Sites are primitive and equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and water spigots.

    DAMAGE TO STATE PROPERTY:
    All registered campers will be held responsible for any damage to state property that occurs during the time of your stay. Damage includes destruction and defacement resulting from both willful actions (vandalism) and the misuse or overuse of facilities. Damage charges will be assessed accordingly to the degree of damage. Do not tie or stake hammocks to trees.

    NO ALCOHOL:
    No Alcohol is allowed in the Youth Group Camping Area sites.

    PARK PROGRAMS:
    Nature Programs, Guided Hikes and Canoe Trips are available for a fee. Contact Park Naturalist at 410-632-2566, Ext. 106. The Nature Center is open daily Memorial Day through Labor Day.

    CANCELLATIONS:
    For same day arrival cancellations, please call the Park at 410-632-3764, Ext. 108; or call Duty Ranger at 443-614-2894.

    CAMPER REGISTRATION:
    Shad Landing campers must register at the Camp Store between the hours of 3:00 pm and before 9:30 pm. All equipment must be set up by 10:00 pm. Park Gates close at 10:00p.m. No unregistered guest or unregistered camper will be permitted in the campground after 10:00 pm; you will not be permitted to check in until the following morning beginning at 8:00 am. Self-registration is in effect when the Camp Store is closed. The self-registration kiosk is located at the entrance to the camp store.

    PRICING:
    All prices are subject to change without notice and reservation fees, as well as cancellation fees are non-refundable.

    FIREWOOD RESTRICTION:
    Due to the threat of the Emerald Ash Borer, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has prohibited bringing non-local firewood into all state parks. Please do not bring firewood with you when visiting a DNR property. Firewood may be collected or purchased at the park.

    PET POLICY:

  • Milburn Landing - Pets allowed in all areas.
  • Shad Landing - Pets allowed in Marina day-use area, including the boat ramp area to board vessels.
  • Pets allowed only in Acorn Trail Area camping loop and not left unattended.
  • Pets NOT permitted in Blue Heron, Robins Nest, Fox Den, Deer Run, and Waters Edge camp loops.
  • Pets allowed in all day-use areas after Labor Day to Memorial Day weekend.
  • Pets NOT permitted at Shad Landing Camper Cabins.

    MINIMUM STAY:
    There is a two night minimum stay (Friday/Saturday) and a three night minimum holiday weekend stay (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

    LOCATION:
    There are two distinct areas. It is a 25-minute drive between the two areas of Pocomoke River State Park.

    Milburn Landing on the north side of the Pocomoke River on Route 364.

    Shad Landing on the south side of the river off Route 113.

    SHAD LANDING CAMP STORE:
    The camp store is open daily May thru September. Weekends only April, October, and November. Provides Ice Cream, Drinks. Deli service, Hot Pizza, Souvenirs, Firewood, Camping Supplies and limited groceries.

    FISHING:
    A Chesapeake Bay Sport Fishing License is required to fish the Pocomoke River and its tributaries. A Non-Tidal License is required to fish at the Shad Landing Pond.

    MD PERMITS:
    Required Permits for Fishing, and Hunting are available on line at https://compass.dnr.maryland.gov/dnrcompassportal. Permits are also available at the Salisbury Regional DNR Service Center 1-866-812-1678 or at your local sporting goods store.

    CHECK OUT:
    Check-out time is 1:00 pm.

    NEARBY SERVICES:
    Services are available in Snow Hill (3 miles), and Pocomoke City (8 miles).

    MARINA SERVICES:

    Shad Landing marina has 23 boat slips with water and electric hookups, launching ramp, lighted dock area, transient pier, and fuel. Canoes, kayaks, and motorboats may be rented in season.

    Milburn Landing has a public boat ramp.
