Special Event
July 6,7 and October 12,13, 2013, a Triathlon will be held at Smallwood State Park. This is an all day event in the park and launching of boats will not be permitted on these dates due to the Triathlon.
ALCOHOL POLICY:
The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins, motorhomes, and designated shelters.
Alcohol permits will only be issued through a reservation for a designated shelter, or other approved facility. A $35 non-refundable fee will be charged for each alcohol permit. Permits may be revoked for cause by Park Manager, their designee or a Natural Resources Police Officer.
Internet shelter reservations requiring an alcohol permit will need to contact the Call Center at 1-888-432-2267, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 8 pm to make your reservation.

Alcoholic beverages are permitted by permit only. Open containers of alcoholic beverages must remain inside the shelters.
SHELTER AMENITIES:
Located in the historic area. Maximum capacity 75 people. 20 parking spaces. Accessible to persons with disabilities. Easy access for caterers. Grills, Electric, Lights, Water and play ground area. 60 yeards from restrooms.
SERVICE CHARGES:
In addition to the Shelter rental charge, all visitors are subject to the park facility service charges.
Senior citizens 62 and older with MD Golden Age Pass are free. Golden Age Pass requires a $10 fee. Information available at: http://dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/goldenage.asp
CATERERS:
Caterers and other specialized services may be contracted by your group to operate at the Shelter. Notification to the park office is required prior to the reservation date.
VEHICLES:
Vehicles are required to remain on paved surfaces. This includes during loading and unloading of supplies.
PARK HOURS:
Park hours are Sunrise to Sunset. All visitors using the shelters are required to leave the park by Sunset.
TRASH FREE:
Maryland State Parks are 'Trash Free'. All trash generated by a group must be taken out by the group. Please bring sufficient large trash bags to accommodate the groups trash.
RULE VIOLATIONS:
Any permit may be cancelled & any person or group may be required to leave the park for violation of park rules and regulations.

SWIMMING:
Swimming is NOT permitted at Smallwood State Park.
PRICING:
Prices are subject to change without notice and reservation fees, as well as cancellation fees are non-refundable.
FIREWOOD RESTRICTION:
Due to the potential threat of the Emerald Ash Borer, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has prohibited the importation of personal firewood into all DNR owned and managed properties. Please do not bring firewood with you from home when visiting a DNR property.
