2014 Reservation/Transaction Fees:

In addition to the park facility use fee, there is a nightly reservation/transaction fee. Internet reservations, the per night fee is $4.56. Call Center, the per night fee is $4.61. Walk-In transactions at the park, the per night fee is $4.51. Reservation/Transaction Fees are Non-Refundable.

Enjoy the rugged mountain beauty and solitude of 3,000-acre Rocky Gap State Park, home to Lake Habeeb, a year-round mecca for recreational activities including fishing, swimming, and boating (electric motors only). Hike along Rocky Gap Run as it winds its way through an impressive mile-long gorge with sheer cliffs, overlooks, and a hemlock forest dense with rhododendron. Great place for a family camping adventure!

Please note that the Camp Store and Nature Center may have limited hours or may be closed before Memorial Day weekend and after Labor Day. Weekend hours of operation are likely on the shoulder season. Please call in advance for hours of operation at these facilities.

In addition, summertime hours vary; please call in advance for more information 301-722-1480.

Rocky Gap State Park is a trash-free area. Please help keep the park clean. Visitors are expected to take their trash with them when they leave. Campers and chalet guests may place their trash into the dumpsters located at the campground entrance. For in-season assistance, contact Camper Registration Office directly at 301-722-1488.

Bicycle Helmets are required by Maryland State Law!!!

Helmets are required for everyone under the age of 16, including passengers, who ride their bicycles on the road, bicycle paths, or any public property. (TR § 21-1207.1)

Helmets are also required for everyone under the age of 16 who are riding on a scooter or on in-line skates. (TR § 21-1207.2)

The helmets must meet or exceed the standards of the American National Standards Institute, the Snell Memorial Foundation, or the American Society for Testing and Materials. (TR § 21-1207.1)

From points east of Allegany County/Cumberland, take Interstate 70 West to Interstate 68 West to Exit 50. Turn right at end of the ramp.Turn right again onto Pleasant Valley Road. Go 1.5 miles to Campground Entrance on the left.

From points west of Allegany County/Cumberland, take Interstate 68 East to Exit 50. Turn left at end of ramp. Cross over interstate and turn right onto Pleasant Valley Road. Go 1.5 miles to Campground Entrance.

  • On Sunday June 1, 2014, Pleasant Valley Road will be closed between Camper Hill Road and Lakeshore Drive/Interstate intersection from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM for the YMCA Triathlon. Please make note and make arrangements to avoid any conflicts. To detour to interstate 68 from the Campground: Turn left onto Pleasant Valley Road. Enter into Pennsylvania (road becomes Beans Cove Road). Take Beans Cove to Rices Road on the right. At the end of Rices Road, turn right onto Street Road and cross back into Maryland. Follow Street Road to the intersection of National Pike (Route 144). National Pike runs East and West; interstate 68 East or West can be accessed from this road.
